Kansas Enhanced Spotlight Awards 2017

The Kansas School of Character Recognition Program announces the ENHANCED Spotlight Recognition for schools implementing the Social, Emotional and Character Development (SECD) Standards and now recognizing the connections within to the 5 R’s, the themes in the Kansas Education System Accreditation (KESA). This is the recognition program aimed at schools beginning to focus on improving the school climate and culture through a whole school implementation of the SECD Standards AND beginning to lay the groundwork for KESA, our new school accreditation model.

We KNOW that you are already doing some great things.....gather your climate/leadership team, reflect on your implementation, and submit your Enhanced Spotlight application.

Recognized school teams will be invited to participate in the Kansas School of Character Recognition Ceremony on Thursday, May 4, at the Brown v. Board of Education Historical Site in Topeka. This year’s full-day event includes a panel of past National School of Character teams and business leaders discussing the place that character development plays in their worlds.

The Kansas School of Character Recognition Program is sponsored by the Kansas State Department of Education, Character.org, KScharacter.org and the Brown v. Board of Education Historical Site. For more information, contact Sue Kidd skidd.kschared@gmail.com or Kent Reed, kreed@ksde.org.
