2017 Kansas Enhanced spotlight

for Social, Emotional and Character Development Standards

Kansas Enhanced Spotlight recognition 2018

The Kansas Department of Education and KScharacter.org are recognizing schools and districts that are implementing new initiatives or are enhancing existing initiatives that will strengthen the social, emotional and character development skills in their students and school climate.  Initiatives must support at least one of the SECD Standards strands (Character Development, Personal Development, or Social Development) AND support one or more of the 5R’s (Responsive Culture, Relationship, Relevance, Rigor, or Results) from the Kansas Education Systems Accreditation (KESA).  A new revision of the SECD Standards will be available in mid-2018.

We KNOW that you are already doing some great things.....gather your climate/leadership team, reflect on your implementation, and submit your Enhanced Spotlight application.

Recognized school teams will be invited to participate in the Kansas School of Character Recognition Ceremony on Thursday, May 3, at the Brown v. Board of Education Historical Site in Topeka.

The Kansas School of Character Recognition Program is sponsored by the Kansas State Department of Education, Character.org, KScharacter.org and the Brown v. Board of Education Historical Site. For more information, contact Noalee McDonald-Augustine nmcdonald@smokyhill.org or Kent Reed, kreed@ksde.org.

The fee for submitting an application is $10 (Make checks payable to KScharacter.org, or by credit card below)
